You Shoot: St. Stephen's Church, Hyde Park

Posted by Whet Moser on 01.25.10 at 05:09 PM

As a friend and fellow University of Chicago graduate put it: "this is the greatest possible itch for flickr to scratch. i still want to break in there and look around for myself, but this is really really important to me." Photo by eholubow.

Definitely worth seeing the original size, and the whole gallery. Just incredible.

Neat - but where is this church located in Hyde Park? I've been down there enough times, and don't recall seeing it...

it's on blackstone ave, just north of 57th street on the west side of the street. its size (which this photo conveys) is partially hidden by the apartment building immediately south of it. not sure how long it's been abandoned.

Been abandoned since the mid-1990s. Have to say that while I miss seeing it every day, I don't miss having it on the other side of my living room wall.
