Should We Kill the Asian Carp?

Ready has tried Asian carp. "They wasn't that bad," he says. "If I didn't have anything to eat at all I'd be tickled to death to have that stuff. They're not a salmon patty—don't get me wrong. But they're very close to it. They have a taste of their own. You could get used to them."

So the news is in that this week's Asian carp kill netted a total of one invader. In 2006, Abbie Reese profiled Chad Pregracke, an East Moline native, environmental activist, and post-Katrina hero, who thinks we should just cut our losses and cut their numbers by eating Asian carp (and export their heads to countries where they're a delicacy).

Southern Illinois has developed a "spacial query tool" if you want to find out what the invasive species is up to.
