Guy Fieri (host of Food Network shows including Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) brings his Road Show to Chicago. The two-hour "food-a-palooza" includes interactive cooking demos and features appearances by Doug Sohn of Hot Doug's and Australian "flair bartender" Hayden Wood. 7 PM, Rosemont Theatre, 5400 N. World of Chocolate, the AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s annual holiday fund-raiser, features sweets from more than 30 local chocolatiers, restaurants, and caterers, plus a light buffet, cocktails, and a DJ. 6-10 PM, Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan, 312-922-2322, $100, $75 in advance.

Faith & Whiskey celebrates the 76th anniversary of the end of Prohibition with a Repeal Party featuring free shoeshine booths and tastings of Knob Creek bourbon from 7 to 9 PM, performances by the Ripettes Burlesque at 10 PM and 12:30 AM, and a costume contest for "best female flapper" and "best male gangster." The Drinking & Writing Brewery presents Volume IV: The 12 Steps of Christmas, where Neo-Futurists Sean Benjamin and Steve Mosqueda discuss links between creativity and alcohol and explain holiday myths and traditions. Samples of beer brewed especially for the show by Pete Crowley of Rock Bottom Brewery will be on hand, and the first show is followed by "Doppelgangbanger," a tasting of doppelbock beers from Rock Bottom, Goose Island, and Metropolitan. 12/5, 12/12, and 12/19, 4 PM, Hopleaf, 5148 N. The Gage hosts a single malt scotch dinner of five courses paired with Glenlivet whiskies ranging from 12 to 21 years in age. On the menu: duck confit sausage, roasted Virginia fluke with honey tangerines, wild boar loin with braised pork cheek, and a chocolate-stuffed pear with chocolate mousse and gingerbread biscotti. 5:30 PM, 24 S. Brewers Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada have collaborated on two new brews: Life & Limb, a “10 percent ABV strong beer” with maple syrup from Calagione’s family farm and barley grown at the Sierra Nevada brewery, and Limb & Life, a 5 percent ABV “low-gravity beer” made using the residual sugar from the first brews. At the Life & Limb and Limb & Life Release Party at Sheffield’s, both will be available for sampling, as will a couple other beers from each brewery (including Dogfish Head’s Theobroma, brewed with cocoa powder and nibs, honey, chiles, and annatto). 7 PM, Sheffield’s, 3258 N. Soup and Bread, the popular series of soup dinners at the Hideout last winter, celebrates the launch of its new cookbook with a release party where you can buy the books for $20 apiece.
