The Nauvoo Women's Guild partnered with Matthew Kennedy of Zion's Mercantile and the Temple House Art Gallery in order to help our local Nauvoo schools. Pam Anderson, a NWG board member had approached Mr. Kennedy in March to ask for his assistance in getting much-needed school supplies for our schools. On April 30, 2009, Evan and Mallory Hutchins arrived from Salt Lake in the truck to bring art to the Gallery. Included in their load were the supplies that Mr. Kennedy had been able to round up from artists in the Salt Lake area.
Board members from the NWG were on hand at the Junior High School to help offload the supplies, as well as the Elementary School principal, Dan Ayer, and Junior High School principal, Maxine Dennison. Supplies included a filing cabinet, a microscope set, office supplies, notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, gluesticks, scissors, art supplies, first aid supplies, a bookcase, and a blender. The NWG is grateful to everyone who helped make this project a success! Photos from this project can be seen by clicking to our Photos page. Nauvoo is a Mormon Historic Community south of Chicago with an impressive and large art gallery. Kennedy owns LDS Living magazine.
