The Sexist On the Difficulty of Saying No

Irish Times writer Kathryn Holmquist has some rotten sex advice for girls: sometimes it's “too late to say no.” Holmquist tells girls that by having one too many drinks, kissing too deeply, or stepping into a man's car, they begin to surrender their right to deny sex. Holmquist's premise—that respecting "no" depends on the circumstance—is offensive. But it raises a more advanced question: Why are women required to say “no” in the first place?
