QOTD: A tie

Posted by Whet Moser on 10.21.09 at 04:19 PM

#1: "It’s called economic sadness."

#2: "If I didn’t have this creative, innovative management style about leasing public assets, we would not be talking about that [Ed. note: not sure what 'that' is]."

- Mayor Daley to the Sun-Times editorial board

For more on the mayor's management style, see Mick Dumke's fact-checking of Daley's budget address, and Dumke and Ben Joravsky's just-posted cover story on the shadow TIF budget.

Why do the Trib & Sun-Times editorial boards get to ask Daley questions about his budget and sad-sack tax payers like me don't? I want a "Prime Minister's Questions"!

The "that" in question seems to refer to the "rainy day fund" Daley created through his privatization initiatives; it's like coming home to find out your partner pawned all of your shit to cover his/her Ameritrade losses and credit card bills.

In light of the Blagojevich pension fund deal Monk's plea agreement outlined, I hope the Feds do some digging into the parking meter/aborted airport/skyway deals.
