No need to bring your Rolaids: they dance, you eat. DanceWorks Chicago begins a series of three Eat to the Beat performances Tuesday, September 15, noon, at the Harris Theater, 205 E Randolph. The first show is devoted to Gina Patterson's quirky, varied My Witness, featuring live accompaniment by Chicago folk trio Sons of the Never Wrong (who also offer a short set after the dance).
On November 17 DWC performs Brian Enos's Beat in the Box, with live accompaniment by beatboxer Yuri Lane, and on February 23 it's Alex Ketley's If Ever (an Ocean) Relinquished, set to a new soundscape by whatever composer, musician, DJ, or spoken word artist wins the contest beginning this month.
At $5 per show, or $10 for all three, your lunchtime entertainment costs about the same as a Subway sandwich. Bring a bag lunch or get a Park Grill box lunch at the theater (order in advance). For information, tickets, or to order a lunch: 312-334-7777, harristheaterchicago.org.
