Shakespeare done well is always a treat, and Purple Bench Productions does a very tolerable job in their free outdoor production of Romeo and Juliet, which continues for the next two weekends. Director Matthew Zaradich's 90-minute version of the play—which omits a few favorite lines, but keeps the play intact and digestible—provides a great primer for Shakespeare newbies.
Shows start at 5 PM this Saturday and Sunday in Skinner Park (1331 W. Adams) and Sat-Sun 7/25-7/26 in Lake Shore Park (808 N. Lake Shore Dr.).
