Siege at Republic

Andrew Freund's documentary Workers' Republic, about last year's successful occupation by laid-off workers at Republic Windows and Doors to retain their benefits, screens Friday at Casa Michoacan.

Freund, who produces the CAN TV series Labor Beat will speak after the screening, along with Reader contributor Kari Lydersen, who wrote the book Revolt on Goose Island about the strike, and Armando Robles, president of United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers local 1110.

Workers' Republic screens Friday at 7 PM at Casa Michoacan, 1638 S. Blue Island.
