A little va-va-voom for your hair

Posted by Heather Kenny on Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 3:42 PM

Maybe it's because people's clothing budgets are shrinking, but it seems like accessories are taking center stage these days. Agnes Miles drew attention recently with Love, Lulu Mae, her line of feathery, flowery hats, headbands, and clips inspired by the 20s, 30s, and 40s (great decades for hats and other headpieces). Now she's teamed up with burlesque performer and canny entrepreneur Michelle L'amour for a collection based on the sexy look of old-school striptease--not just headgear but gloves and garters too, sprinkled with hand-dyed ostrich feathers, Swarovski crystals, and vintage material. The L'amour Couture collection, which runs from $50 to $1,000, will debut this Saturday evening, June 20, at Studio L'amour at 8 PM. If you can't make it, they'll be available on the Love, Lulu Mae site soon.
