Interesting article by Jon Hilkevitch in today's Tribune about the CTA selling off land--including some prime north side real estate--in order to raise money to "bolster the transit agency's sagging bottom line."
It's not as bad as Mayor Daley selling off Midway and parking meters to pay basic bills (and, perhaps, the Olympics). But I hope the CTA does a little bit better than they did when they sold Wilson Yard.
That, of course, was a deal that the mayor pretty much forced them into. So my advice to the CTA is to keep Daley from getting anywhere near these transactions. And for God's sake, please keep the Park District far, far away.
