Q: Mick, did you consider, in your calculations, the time spent behind closed doors? A: Not for the purpose of making the point of this post. Q: And that point is? A: What do you, the reader, think?

" ... did you consider, in your calculations, the time spent behind closed doors?" Where and when? The public has a right to be present in Illinois. Violators of the open meetings law are guilty of a misdemeanor. If you are aware of any details, please notify the Illinois Attorney General.

The shape of things to come (Vancouver 2012 Olympics): Vancouver City Council is seeking emergency borrowing powers to meet a funding shortfall of $458-million needed to complete the troubled Olympic Village project. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090112.wvanoc0112/BNStory/National/home

re: the ponderer You're right--I'm sure they spent even more time praising Burris behind closed doors.

Nancy D, a small point... the Vancouver Winter Olympics are next year, right after our Primary elections, not in 2012 (that is when the London Summer Games are to be held).

that this article was posted well over 12 hours ago and yet their have been no posts regarding Mr. Burris (positive or negative). This indicates to me either Mr. Burris' integrity is without question (this is probobly the case)or most of you assholes have a very short attention span and absolutely no understanding of what would happen if Chicago gets the Olympics.

Does Hugh really think that any PRIVATE conversations between Elected Officials violates the "Open Meetings" Laws? Hugh once again shows that he's against Government functioning, all Elected Officials, and is actually an Anarchist.

There is no such thing as a 'private' conversation concerning PUBLIC policy, nor is there concerning the spending of PUBLIC funds, nor is there concerning any subject that effects the PUBLIC, directly or indirectly, via the actions, or inactions, of those the PUBLIC has elected to, wait for it, SERVE THE PUBLIC. oreo, or his ilk, shows, once again, the he/they are against elected PUBLIC SERVANTS actually SERVING THE PUBLIC, and, in fact, is actually a fascist at heart, albeit merely one, little minion, in a large pool of little minions. Were there any significant number of elected officials truly SERVING THE PUBLIC that ELECTED them, there would be fewer reasons to: HAVE NO DOUBT, VOTE INCUMBENTS OUT As it is, in fact, there are so many reasons TO: HAVE NO DOUBT, VOTE INCUMBENTS OUT that all the feeble protestations voiced by the minions, should be heard as the chattering of the feeble minded that it is.

The Olympics will be a great thing fo r the city, both economically and otherwise. In fact, I think we should have 2 Olympicses at the same time. Nobody's ever pulled that off!
