Hopleaf deal dead

Posted by Mike Sula on 12.09.08 at 05:48 PM

According to Crain's Chicago Business Michael Roper's plan to buy the building next to the Hopleaf (which houses La Donna, which is moving), and open a Mediterranean-style restaurant and bar has fallen through--the local Edgebrook Bank withdrew its financing commitment days before the scheduled closing in October.

"It would be a place, where if the Hopleaf was filled, people would feel comfortable going there instead," he says.

Roper is out the 100 grand he put down in earnest money but says he'll keep trying.

Bots getting through your spam protection huh? Maybe it just tried both possibilities. Maybe it's time for CAPTCHA?
