The Pontiac gives way to the Donnie Madia fine-dining empire

Which presumably means more slacks, fewer trucker hats. And no more honky-tonk bingo. Never having been there (not my crowd--I prefer Earwax, or something in a different neighborhood*) I'm fully ambivalent, but the discussion at Chicagoist is heated. Commenters blame Cans for the Wicker Park anti-decay. These sideline discussions on Wicker Park/Bucktown culture are always interesting.

*I've also come to like Cafe Central.
