Bourdain shoots Chicago

Posted by Mike Sula on Wed, Aug 6, 2008 at 11:06 AM

Is there anything Louisa Chu can't do? Not only has her prerecorded run as guest judge for Battle Zucchini just finished, but she's taking a break from a summerlong cheffing stint on a fishing boat in Sitka, Alaska, to serve as fixer for Anthony Bourdain and the No Reservations production team, in town today through early next week to film the long-awaited Chicago episode. Louisa, who made a memorable appearance in the first season's Paris episode (and many on Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie) will be escorting Bourdain and crew to L20, Calumet Fisheries, and Burt's Place, among other locations--including a visit to the Tom Tom Tamale factory and Fat Johnnie's with the distinguished Peter Engler.

He generally is not too into the hippy organic craze.... but nice advertising for your business.

He also went to Hot Doug's. Sadly I was there just a bit earlier, before he got there. http://gapersblock.com/drivethru/2008/08/08/anthony_bourdain_eats_and_film/index.php

That Chicago episode had to be the worst he's ever done. Not a single activity to represent the city -- a street fest, a sporting event, the lakefront, a blues club. And FREAKIN' Mancow as the representative we get for our town. I was embarrassed. I love his show otherwise, but that one was just awful.
