The Boredoms join the Thrill Jockey family

Posted by Monica Kendrick on 01.28.08 at 07:58 PM

It's fantastic news for Chicago Boredoms fans that the band has signed to Thrill Jockey for the world outside Japan. This should get them some more-reliable U.S. distribution: coming in April, a deluxe reissue of Super Roots 9, recorded live in 2004. There's also a U.S. tour on deck, and the home of the Boredoms' new home isn't getting stiffed: their March 26 gig at the Congress Theater will be one of only a few performed "in the round." It is also my understanding that a seven-necked stand-mounted guitar will be involved.

Did this show just recently get moved? Every itinerary I've seen for their tour lists them as playing Logan Square Auditorium. It's listed on the LSA website, but the Empty Bottle site puts it at the Congress as well. It's gonna suck at the Congress. It's just going to be a buzz of noise.....

Yeah, the move has been rumored for a week or so, but ticketweb sent out notice to anyone who already bought a ticket yesterday. I'm just hoping that they don't force everyone into the seats. If people are allowed to surround the band on the floor, it might not sound as bad...

It originally was scheduled for the LSA - and, IIRC, it was not going to be one of the "in the round" shows. So possibly the venue change was done to make that format possible.
