The new sex columnist for the New York Press, in an act of stunningly incompetent plagiarism, ripped off a 2006 installment of "Savage Love," the most popular alt-weekly column on the planet, and got caught by Moe Tkacik at Jezebel. Unfortunately, she leaps from querying the recalcitrant editor of the Village Voice's competitor to a rant about alt-weeklies as a group, which works about as well as saying one blogger who confuses correlation for causation is the reason people don't trust blogs. There are a lot of reasons the industry is struggling financially, but "one editor is incompetent" wouldn't make my list of the top 1,000 or so. More salient advice: avoid stunt hires.
