Hey Top Chef fans: Season Four is poised to start filming here in Chicago, per technical coordinator (and former almost-Top-Chef) Lee Anne Wong and the Stew. Though judging from the report of this eagle-eyed LTHer, who spotted former contestants Marcel, Sandi, Josie, and Tiffani waiting for a table at Frontera Grill last week in full TV makeup, the cameras appear to be rolling. In this instance, however, it sounds like the chefs were just trying to get lunch, not judge some huitlacoche challenge.
No word on the Bravo site yet as to when Top Chef 4 will air. It'll be great if they can truly mine the culinary range of the city (south-side v. west-side BBQ challenge!) but I fear a stuffed pizza Elimination and a make-your-own Chicago dog Quickfire. Maybe, if we're lucky, they'll set the cheftestants loose in the kitchen of Moto with the laser?
What Chicago-inspired challenges do you think would do us proud?

I would love to see a Chicago - fusion challenge. Choose 2 - 3 ethnic cuisines that Chicago is famous for and come up with a new fusion dish. Polish/Hispanic? Indian/Thai?
1)A tailgate challenge at one of the Bear's games 2)Some kind of pizza challenge, hot dog and braut.... 3)They'll have Achatz, Moto, maybe the Schwa guys, Graham Elliot Bowles of course the chef of all chefs Charlie Trotter..and u have to believe Lettuce Entertainment Restaurants will be included...so maybe a hand at making at station at the Mighty Nice in Water Tower.. 4)They'll have some kind of steak challenge.... 5)Will probably do their shopping at Dominick's... 6)Maybe a challenge at Fox and Obel... 7)China town and Devon Avenue Indian restaurants 8)Definitely a Green market Challenge.... They will have Ditka as a guest judge for sure...
They were at Green City Market today buying food for a challenge. It has also been reported that they are using the Whole Foods at Halsted/Waveland as a market.
Any word on guest judges? I hope Homaru Cantu pays Top Chef a visit!
They need to do a Cubs play-offs challenge in Wrigley this weekend! Reinvent ballpark favorites maybe...the fans would love it, it's gonna be hype in Wrigleyville!!!
I think that Bub's fusion challenge is genius, but you know what else would be genius? A foie gras challenge and a hot dog challenge at Hot Doug's. Please, please, please tell me that Doug will be featured in some way this season. As a relocated Chicagoan to Brooklyn, New York (I can't come back...the public transportation is too good here), I will be cheering my home city all the way this next season, and very much look forward to the Bravo producers highlighting all that is wonderful about Chicago (i.e. Rick Bayless, Paul and Old Chicago Pizza on 79th, Lem's, Argyle Street, Albany Park Middle Eastern, Scandinavian traditions, Polish traditions, the White Sox, Johnnie's...yeah, I know...not "really" Chicago, but that is the greatest Italian beef in existence, Dat Dougnut, South Side Caribbean, and the EXTRAORDINARY Oaxacan restaurants in Chicago...goodness, do I miss the Mexican food of Chicago).
