The Park Hyatt Chicago hosts a Masters of Food and Wine celebration Friday at NoMI, a tribute to the "flavors of Argentina" with well-known Argentine chefs and sommeliers. Activities include a cooking demo, luncheon, wine tasting, reception, and a choice of two six-course dinners; prices range from $40 for the reception to $500 for the "rarities dinner." There's a complete schedule here (PDF).

West Lakeview Liquors hosts a free tasting of Dogfish Head Brewery's Punkin Ale and other fall releases paired with cheeses from The Cheese Stands Alone, Friday from 6 to 9 PM.

Winefest Chicago happens Friday from 5-10 PM and Saturday and Sunday from noon-10 PM at Lincoln and Berenice (3840 N. Lincoln) in Northcenter. In addition to the wine, there'll be live music, work from local artists, food from neighborhood restaurants, and a farmers' market Saturday from noon to 5 PM. It's free to wander around; $25 gets you a wine glass and tasting tickets.

Saturday at 1 PM, Harvard anthropologist Richard Wrangham lectures on Humans: The Cooking Ape, discussing his contention that the desire to cook is a defining characteristic of humanity. It's at the Field Museum Simpson Theater; admission is included in the price of a museum ticket but preregistration is required.

Adobo Grill's Old Town location offers a tequila dinner at 7 PM Thursday showcasing Trago tequilas, including blanco, reposado, and añejo. Tequila drinks will be paired with each of the four courses in the $43 meal.
