Yakuza update

Last week I got the very welcome news that Yakuza has begun demoing new material at Semaphore, with Sanford Parker (of Minsk and Pelican fame) producing. The album is tentatively titled Transmutations and is scheduled for a late 2007 release on Prosthetic.

Why get all worked up about something that won't be out for nearly a year? Well, Mos Eisley wasn't built in a day. As this interview from around the time of last year's monumental Samsara suggests, a lot of work goes into the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is a Yakuza production. Bruce Lamont and his cronies need to keep us posted regularly, just like they need to make noise.

If you're already wringing your hands in anticipation, you'll be happy to know there's a Yakuza show lined up at the Beat Kitchen on April 8, with labelmates Kylesa and the deliriously dense Genghis Tron.
